Heart Strings

Pieced by DCSQ members.  Longarm quilted by Robin Hempel.

Lap size

The Heart Strings Quilting Project is an online quilting group that has members in various guilds and other groups that make string quilts to be donated to anyone in need.  We have focused on Quilts of Valor, Women's Advocacy, and several other requests.

QOV Big Squares

Pieced by Pat Basch.  Longarm quilted by Beth Kobliska.

This quilt top was pieced at a Quilts of Valor sewing day. The sashing was made from fabrics donated to DCSQ by Textile Creations. The large squares required some custom quilting to add interest, so I quilted a moose, sunbursts, an owl, a bear, and deer.   It was donated to Quilts of Valor after the show.

Large lap size.

QOV Plaid Flannel

Pieced by Cindy Hilleary.  Longarm quilted by Beth Kobliska.

This quilt top was pieced at a Quilts of Valor sewing day. Most of the plaid fabrics were donated to DCSQ by Marcus Brothers Fabrics, and the rest I found in the store at last year’s show. This quilt will be donated to Quilts of Valor.

Lap size.
Stripes and Stars

Pieced by Kim Gannaway.  Longarm quilted by Beth Kobliska

This quilt was made from fabrics donated to DCSQ by Michael Miller Fabrics, with a few from my own stash. I quilted the quilt with stars to add a patriotic element and used the circles to add a curved element. This quilt will be donated to Quilts of Valor.

QOV Strips and Four-Patches

Piece and longarm quilted by Beth Kobliska.

This quilt was made from fabrics donated to DCSQ by Michael Miller Fabrics, with a few from my own stash. The donated fabrics were small samples, so I designed the quilt to have as little waste as possible. This quilt will be donated to Quilts of Valor.

Camp Wapo Charity Quilt

Blocks made by attendees of 2010 retreat.  Quilt top assembled by Trisha Millonig.  Longarm quilted by Sandi Irish.

DCSQ's annual retreat attendees make a quilt each year to donate to Camp Wapo. The blocks for this quilt were made at the 2010 retreat. The finished quilt will be donated to Camp Wapo at the 2011 retreat in November.

Twin bed size
Pillowcases made by DCSQ members.

For the past 3 years DCSQ members have made pillowcases to be donated to local charities and shelters.  This year we made over 350 pillowcases.

The following quilts and quilt tops were made at the Quilts of Valor sewing day during the 2011 quilt show.  They will be donated to Quilts of Valor
